THE WHITE HOUSE

“The HSU personnel have pursued each venture with the utmost importance, attention to detail and professionalism, which has been extended not only to GSA representatives but, also to our clients and the end users.

Based upon several factors, location, footprint size, security regulations, and a few others, these projects required and received close coordination of subcontractors and deliveries of equipment and materials.  Stringent access and security requirements presented potential hurdles, which HSU adjusted to seemingly effortlessly.  The fact these spaces abutted occupied facilities imposed restrictions to avoid disruption of the occupants and their missions.  HSU scheduled their activities and coordinated their efforts to excel in this regard.

HSU staff have been thorough in their attention to detail, very professional, performed excellent coordination between their subcontracts, the Owners, maintenance, and security personnel, all the while with a positive attitude and a smile.  HSU has been fair and reasonable in their dealings and negotiations.”

"I would like to first stress that these projects were successfully completed under sensitive time constraints, in high-pressure environments, with remarkable attention to detail and with the utmost regard for historic preservation.  Secondly, HSU did an outstanding job of following through on the President’s promise to the public and the press organizations regarding when the newly renovated Press Room would be completed."

“Timeliness, cleanliness, and respectful of both the structural as well as the historical nature of the building that they are working on, are just few words to describe HSU.  The Kennedy Center is a highly visible performing arts facility where hundred of thousands of patrons and other visitors pass through annually.  In painting the exterior columns of the building, HSU is required to continue work during business hours and while the building is open to the public for performances and tourists alike.  In a sentence:  No interruption to the everyday function of the building!  And to complete the job in a timely manner.”

GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION

“GSA provides services for its clients by contracting out many of the requests to contractors such as your company.  Over the last year, it has been a wonderful experience working with not just you personally [Walter Hsu], but also with the administrative staff and workers of HSU.  I am also proud to report that our clients have also observed the craftsmanship and professionalism that your project manager and his staff have displayed while proceeding to complete the most recent project:  Replacement of Fan Coil Units.  I believe that we have succeeded in providing our clients with the best possible solution:  Total Quality Management.”

"Your devotion to your employees is a clear indication of what we need more of today.  I encourage you to continue on your road to success and I look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Going into this project, my staff and I had some concerns about getting all of the work done in an occupied building during and after normal working hours.  Your firm put our concerns to rest.  Not only did you do an excellent job on the project, but our client, the Financial Management Systems division of the Treasury Department was extremely pleased with the way your people made sure there was virtually no disruption to their operations.  They were constantly praising your people.

Since then I have worked with your firm on several other projects and have continued to be impressed. … Quality work by conscientious people.”

“HSU stepped in and successfully completed work on a project to convert third floor office space to Judge’s chambers after the initial contractor filed for bankruptcy and abandoned the site.  The project was in complete disarray at this point with numerous defects and incomplete work plus a very unhappy client as a result of their experience with the prior contractor.  HSU was not only able to complete the work in a timely manner, but demonstrated a commitment to performing quality construction in a cooperative, well planned manner.  Their efforts quickly improved relations with a very demanding client.”

“In an additional project to upgrade five courtrooms on the fifth floor of the National Courts Building, HSU continued to provide quality, well planned work, in a cooperative manner working with the Court of Federal Claims to phase work so it did not disrupt ongoing court activities.  A project that had the potential for numerous scheduling problems was, through HSU’s efforts, performed without any complaint from the Court.  Court representatives have indicated a high degree of satisfaction with HSU’s work.  Their previous experiences with other contractors had been poor, at best.  HSU was able to show them that work could be done in a quality, coordinated, timely fashion.”

Management of the day-to-day activities was done in a superior fashion.  Construction activities did not cause any disruption to the normal activities at the Museum… administrative matters related to the contract were managed effectively and efficiently by you and your staff. Your team was responsive throughout the construction phase, successfully meeting the Agriculture Research Service’s program goals.  We were extremely fortunate to have chosen a team exhibiting the dedication, and ability necessary to manage this highly unique and complex project, completing it on time.”

“Thank you for another job well done at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.  As the general contractor on the second phase of the Filene Center fire alarm and suppression systems replacement/repair, HSU performed in an outstanding fashion.

The project was made even more challenging by the requirement that repairs could not repairs could not impair the visual quality of the audience ceiling and seating area.  An additional complication was the inaccuracy of the as-built drawings, which made system trouble-shooting more difficult.  Despite these intricacies and project complications, your company and all involved subcontractors provided quality work and obtained excellent results.  The Filene Center has a greatly improved fire detection and suppression system that should serve for many years.”
