West Wing Renovation:

From 2005 through 2008, HSU was the general contractor on the project to renovate the entire Press Room Facility at the White House West Wing.  The first phase of the project involved the fast-track build-out of a Temporary Press Room at Jackson Place, just across the street from the White House.  Once completed, the press corps was able to relocate and operate without disruption so that HSU could commence the West Wing overhaul.  Renovation to the West Wing included the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room and the adjoining work and support areas.  HSU provided value-engineering, with reviewed drawings from the architect at the 10%-28%-50%-90% and 100% stages.  Construction included all trades – large amounts of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpet, walls, doors, and “historic swimming pool preservation.”  The project was completed in time for Bush’s July 2007 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
